Eisteddfod 2023

Autism Skills Phase

By Teacher Masego Makumbila

The Autism Senior Skills learners took part in the Alberton Eisteddfod competition on the 10th of August.

They competed in the dance category and secured a 99%-point score for their item. This victory came with a lot of practice, tears and sweat from both learners and educators.

Judges were greatly impressed with the learners’ attires, rhythm, sound, movements, and the use of the props during their performance. The performance was outstanding and smoothly delivered as the audience could not stop cheering.

It takes a lot to get our learners to the level at which they performed on the day, yet they did it with so much confidence and grace. As the saying goes, we can’t always choose the music life plays for us, but we can choose how we dance to it.

Our learners clearly listened to the rhythm and chose how they would dance.

We would like to thank parents for the constant support and cooperation. We could not have gotten the gold certificate, had it not been for your contribution towards the day.

High Support Senior Phase

By Teacher Debre Smit

On 16 August, a group of High Support Senior Phase learners took part in the Eisteddfod at the Hamlet School in Johannesburg. They achieved 92% for their choral verse, “The Elephants”. Well done to all the participants!

Senior Phase

By Teacher Sonja de Bruin

On the 14th of June our learners in the Senior Phase entered the Eisteddfod competition under the Art category.

They did different drawings and received very positive feedback. We are extremely proud to share their talents with the world. The learners also made their way to Frances Vorwerg School on the 10th of August to participate in the Dance section competition.

They worked hard to prepare for the competition and polished their moves for the Gumboots Dance, to which they came out victorious and received a gold certificate.

We are extremely proud of our learners who participated this year. They made our school proud by giving their best.
