Autism Junior Phase Fashion Show

Ms. Krause opened and welcomed everyone to the event and the audience was treated to a rendition of a poem titled“I am a woman” was delivered by Miss Thoko Nkambule to motivate the women for Women’s Month.
The event showcased each learner’s individual fashion-related talent. All learners who participated were presented with an opportunity to enjoy the event. The event took all the stakeholders into consideration, and accommodated children of all three distinguished levels of cognitive functioning.
Parental involvement also played a major role in making the event a success. This gave the learners moral support for the most part, which is a key factor towards unlocking each learner’s potential. It is essential for a child to find validation from knowing that their parent is invested in them. This was one way for the parents to be there for their children. Parents supported the Fashion Show in numbers and showed interest as they cheered their children on with great enthusiasm during the entire course of the event, becoming “the life of the party” to some extent.
The event was a great success. It exceeded expectations. It was truly a wondrous sight to behold, fulfilling in every sense of the word for effort, planning, time management as well as money spent into making the event was not perilous at all.
The week leading up to the fashion show was perhaps even more fulfilling than the actual event because it compelled parents to be hands on as they were tasked with designing and making their children’s costumes as well as props or gadgets if necessary. Giving testimony that the hardest job in the world to date is parenting. As parents they had to become momentary engineers and fashion designers. Proving that parenting is a full time job.
Each phase was assigned a particular theme and the costumes the learners wore were dedicated to those particular themes.
Autism Middle Phase Fashion Show

On the 7th of August 2023 the Autism Middle phase participated in Via Nova School’s very first fashion show.. On the day, parents had the pleasure to witness their children showcase their designs made from recyclable materials such as toilet paper rolls and brown paper. The boys wore jackets with ties and caps and the girls wore skirts with bow ties.
ASD middle phase is proud to be a part of an eco-friendly school!!
Autism Senior Phase Fashion Show

If you happened to miss the front-row spectacle, fret not because this article will teleport you straight to the runway, camera poised and ready for fashion action.
Imagine you’re at a Parisian soirée where styles’ symphony plays on repeat, picture Coco Chanel doing the cha-cha with Pharrell Williams, all while Gert-Johan Coetzee, Thebe Magugu and David Tlale lead the dance. It all sums up haute couture meets high energy!
Now let’s talk about the young gentlemen in the Autism Phase who showed us that age is just a number, especially when it comes to stealing the show. They sashayed with the spirit of cultures from every corner of South Africa. We’re talking about more culture than a potluck at a global buffet…and can we also take a moment to appreciate the
three muses who strutted like they were cat-walking through history? They were unmoved by being outnumbered by the boys in the phase. Their contemporary cultural ensembles were as vibrant as South Africa’s very soul.
But wait, let’s set the mood! The Ndebele traditional attire hit the stage with a boldness that screamed, “I’m here and I’m fabulous!” as Nothembi’s ‘Ngithokoza ababelethi bam’ played, and suddenly the audience was transported to a canvas of Ndebele house paintings, all while sipping chai tea and latté at Via Nova’s school hall.
At this cultural parade, it was a melody of styles, each stitch a love letter to a different heritage. Tswana, Swati, Southern Sotho, Xhosa, Venda, Pedi, Zulu, and Xitsonga – they all joined this cultural carnival. And oh my, the music! It was a playlist curated by style itself.
The crowd? Electric! The learners definitely rocked the outfits like they were born in them. The MC, Teacher Sibusiso Ndlovu worked the crowd like a maestro leading his symphony. Talk about a standing ovation, even before the curtain fell.
Imagine this: happy faces, confident struts, and not a single tantrum or meltdown in sight. The runway turned into a playground, and laughter was the dress code of the day.
In the end, it wasn’t just a fashion show; it was a journey that proves Margaret Mead right: “a small passionate group can indeed change the world”.
The applause, the cheers- it all belongs to the Senior Management Team, our DH (Mrs K de Necker), all the ASD Senior Educators and Assistants for their unfaltering work with the learners and most importantly the parents who turned up to witness this fashion fiesta.
You didn’t just see a show, you witnessed a sartorial revolution.
High Support Phase Fashion Show

On 8 August the High Support Phase participated in the Fashion Show. All the learners as well as the teachers were well and perfectly dressed in Vintage and Safari outfits. They did an excellent job in modeling these outfits and it was an eye opener of their great abilities!
Autism PID Phase Fashion Show

On 7 August 2023, parents were treated to a sensational Fashion Show hosted by the PID Phase, Junior, Middle and Senior ASD Phases. Once again, the learners, assistants, and teachers of the PID and Autism phases succeeded in an outstanding performance.
Parents and guests were entertained by learners showing off, on stage, their costumes according to theme-based and self-made attires. Learners paraded on the theme-based music, with loud appraise from the spectators.
The following teachers represented their Phase by announcing learners; Mr S Ndlovu – Senior ASD Phase, MrsMatjeni – PID Phase, Mrs K Davel – Junior Autism Phase, and Ms W Ntshangase – Middle Autism Phase.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the stakeholder, parents, teachers, and assistants for making this fashion show a great success.
Senior Phase Fashion Show

Via Nova School hosted their first ever Fashion Show on the 7th & 8th of August 2023 and we are proud to announce that it was a great success.
It took our learners time, effort, hard work and dedication to prepare for the event. The event provided learners the opportunity to showcase their talent and creativity. They looked stunning in their recyclable outfits.
Lastly, we would like to express our appreciation to our parents and guardians for the continuous support.
