Sport

When we select winter and summer sports for autism learners at school, it’s important to focus on activities that cater to their sensory needs, motor skills, and social preferences. The key is to provide structured, predictable, and engaging sports that encourage participation and development.

Indoor Swimming – Helps with sensory regulation, muscle tone, and relaxation.

Table Tennis – Improves focus, reflexes, and hand-eye coordination.

Athletics (Running, Long Jump, Shot Put, High jump and javelin) – Allows for individual participation at a comfortable pace.

Swimming (Outdoor) – Provides sensory benefits and cooling effects.

Soccer – Supports teamwork and cardiovascular fitness.

Horse Riding (Equine Therapy) – Builds confidence, sensory processing, and emotional connection.

Indoor Rowing – Provides rhythm, coordination, and sensory stimulation.

Football – Training focuses on improving of motor skills, balance, coordination and social interaction.

Netball – not only help participants develop their physical abilities but also enhance their social skills and self-confidence.
